The Versatile Otentik Sunshade

Otentik sunshades are amazing at delivering a versatile range of use. If you’re at the beach, on the river, car camping or even in the snow, your Otentik beach tent can be adjusted to suit your outdoor adventure and protect you from the sun’s harmful rays.

Some common questions we receive:

What size should I get?
A medium sunshade comfortably shades 2 – 4 people, with 5.5ft poles. As seen in the image below, you can fit up to 5 if you like each other. 😉 Our large sunshade can cover up to 7 people with 6.5ft poles, and this remains our most popular tent here in the US.

How big are they packed up?
They are between 19-22 inches long, making them incredibly compact and weigh less than 5 pounds. You can fit them in most carry on luggage, so no more renting beach cabanas! Bring the shade with you.

How much shade does it provide?
This depends a bit on the time of day and where the sun is in the sky. Early and late in the afternoon, if the wind isn’t too strong, you can angle the lower side towards the sun and get an even larger shade (see “monster shade” image below). When the sun is overhead you’ll get a shade approximately the same size as the tent. The medium is 7 x 7ft and the large is 8.5 x 9ft.

Does the color make a difference for sun protection?
All Otentik sunshades provide the maximum UPF rating of any fabric (UPF 50). Many of our returning customers prefer darker colors to the bright ones, however. It’ll be easier on the eyes in bright sun.

Are they easy to set up?
Absolutely! Though there is a small learning curve. The first few times may take tweaking, but we provide set up help via text 7 days/week so just contact us if you’re having trouble! We have used these for years in all wind/sun conditions. It is by far our favorite beach item, and allows us to fully enjoy entire days outdoors without becoming a lobster. =)

What is special about the Otentik as opposed to similar beach tents?
The Otentik were the original sunshade in this style, and began production in 2010. We have always put great emphasis on quality product and superior customer service. The fabric for Otentik comes from Italian company called Eurojersey, and the sunshades are manufactured in Israel. Our US headquarters is a women owned and led small business located in Historic Downtown DeLand, FL. All shipments from the US (for this website and Amazon) are supplied by our team in DeLand, where we emphasize customer service, community engagement and environmental sustainability.
